Pype Hayes Golf Club

What we say

The opening few holes of this Birmingham muni are flat and straight and to be blunt, pretty uninspiring. You might even be tempted to walk off the course early doors but you should persevere because Pype Hayes gets better and better as you make your way round.

Slopes come into play on several holes, especially the downhill 3rd, but generally-speaking the holes are arrow straight with spacious fairways so you can afford to regularly grip-it-and-rip-it.

Unusually this is a parkland track minus water features so the main difficulty value comes from the tree-lined fairways and the well positioned bunkers –  both large and steep.

It opened in 1933 but this underrated Birmingham course has been given a new lease of life since being taken over by Mytime Golf. It’s a popular and pleasant parkland track and is fun, friendly, forgiving and easy walking.

This parkland track is protected by from the tree-lined fairways and the well positioned bunkers, which are both large and steep. It opened in 1933,  but has been given a new lease of life since being taken over by Mytime Golf, who recently opened a new £2 million clubhouse in July, which features a restaurant, function room, gym & pro shop.

  • 4 out of 5 An excellent society venue

Our society consists of 2 dozen members with handicaps 14-28 We booked Pype Hayes for the first time in May 2015 and we had a glorious day. OK the weather was fantastic and that always helps. The staff were good and even put out NTP markers with measuring tapes for us on all of the Par 3's. Breakfast was served buffet style and it was good too. The course isn't too taxing and our winner managed 41 Stableford points. Fairways are quite wide and greens well kept. Excellent new clubhouse.
