Penn Golf Club

What we say

Easy walking layout on Penn Common with rough gorse and wooded copses prominent. The course regularly hosts county comps and has recently been stiffened up by the addition of many new trees along with some well placed bunkers.

The Penn Golf Club course is a heathland course with easy walking.  The course is set in the natural enviroment of Penn Common with rough gorse, copses and water courses predominating the landscape.  Over recent years there have been many tress added, and a few very well placed bunkers, adding to the complexity of the course.  From the hand mown and very slick greens, to the lush diamond striped fairways, the club believes that our course is comparable to the most prestigious of clubs.  They have recently hosted an EGU event, and host the County competitions on a regular basis.

  • 2.5 out of 5 Watch the green fees...

Had a bad experience at this course. We were undercharged and after the round the club sec demanded we pay the correct price. Here's the thing. Turn up and play, and you'll be charged £28. Turn up and play 2-Fore-1 and you'll be charged £35, which is the normal day rate, but you don't get a full day's golf, just one round. Please note Penn, THIS IS NOT 2-FORE-1, AND IT IS NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF 2-FORE-1. the pro says that they intend to leave the 2-Fore-1 scheme at the end of this year due to 'the problems caused'. I imagine these problems would be solved if the correct green fee was charged. I won't be going back or recommending it.

Penn is a real test of golf, especially if your not on the fairways, the heath can be wicked if let to grow and there’s little chance of finding your ball on any wayward shots. The greens are always in excellent condition and they protect the course in the winter months by closing most of the course. When it’s open it’s worth a visit.
