Gaudet Luce Golf Club

What we say

The name Gaudet Luce and the Phoenix logo have been adopted from a plaque found in the 17th century farmhouse. Loosely translated from the latin, the phrase becomes ‘Rejoice in the Light’.

Gaudet Luce Golf Club formally opened in July 1995 but has been extensively re-modelled and improved in recent years.

The golf course has two contrasting loops of holes. The front 9 is tight and requires good golf course management policy, in particular the long 9th, with its tight out of bounds along the right hand side. The back nine is more open and longer, with a network of water features. The 12th is one of the finest Par 3s in Worcestershire, long and with the front of the green well guarded by water.

  • 4 out of 5 Very friendly, really enjoyable

    By Steve H

Steve H Having played this course in its infancy, it always amazes me to see how much its matured every time i go back. I won a prize for a free round for 4 people at my son's school raffle and, due to booking an early tee time, the pro shop wasn't open. The members that were there went out of their way to try and help us out with scorecards etc. The course was in great condition and the some of the greens were so dark green that it looked like they had been painted! Very enjoyable day and would recommend it for a great day out. PS Was a bit disappointed to find no Guinness in the excellent bar though!

  • 4 out of 5 Great Value

    By beni

The course is a little on the short side and runs along the M5 without any particularly good views.  However it is very playable and has some testing drives over ditches/water to tight fairways.  The Greens are superb - receptive but fast and true with many a subtle borrow.  The welcome we received was excellent and the lady in the Pro Shop happily explained the layout and was relaxed about us being a couple of minutes late for our tee time.  The course was busy but play was fast enough - circa 3 1/4 hours for 18.  A green fee of £23 is much better value than most courses in the area, especially if you then use 2 fore 1 vouchers.

  • 4 out of 5 Enjoyed the experience

    By JohnPen

Due to the rain, most courses have been closed at this time of year or, at best, temporary greens and teeing off a mat. Played Gaudet Lucy yesterday and very pleased to use proper tees and greens. Staff were extremely friendly and the course, although muddy in places which is not surprising considering weather conditions, was in good order. Interesting course with tight first nine and open back nine with water in play at four of the holes.

  • 1.5 out of 5 needs to improve across the board

    By gbarbs

been to Gaudet several times now when visiting family - course really should be so much more. Fairways are in poor order especially this time of year - whether they have naturally poor drainage I do not know but but some fairways resemble a field which has simply been closely mown. very muddy, cuts up - just not to the required standard. rest of the course, whilst waiting for the trees to mature is fairly lacking in interest and there is no wow factor at all. Traipsing up and down steep hills, one hole next to the other is not exactly stimulating either. To top it all off it is inexplicably busy with the slowest players ever on the course! there are much better courses nearby and cheaper too.

  • Not yet rated Unfriendly welcome

Completely astonished by the unfirendly welcome. Have been there several times before and never felt anything like it. We were rushed off the 1st 20 minutes early, whilst being made to feel like we were holding everyone up. Inspected up and down to see if we were adhering to dress code - they don't like shirts (even collared ones) with an England emblem on it. Soon as we mentioned we were not members felt like 2nd class citizens. Rating of 2 for the great course but not going back.

  • Not yet rated Brill at this time of year

This time of year brill. Good banter in pro shop, advice given by members when asked on course. A great pleasure, I can?t wait for April/May when course at its best.
