Altrincham Golf Course

Last Updated:

What we say

Municipal golf at its best. Altrincham is a good test of parkland golf, has a decent mix of holes and is usually in fine nick considering the amount of ‘traffic’ it receives. Furthermore, check out the prices below and you’ll struggle to beat it anywhere when it comes to value-for-money.

You can warm-up on the 27-bay floodlit driving range but on-course you need to be wary of the meandering Timperley brook which features on several holes.

Altrincham Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 71, 6385 yard, parkland golf course with Timperly brook meandering throughout. It provides beautiful views and a challenging test for any standard of golfer.

Within the grounds is situated a 27 bay floodlit driving range with latest video analysis equipment and the newly refurbished Old Hall Public House which provides golfers with catering and refreshments.

Based in the north-west of England, eight miles south of Manchester, Altrincham Golf Club offers competitive golf on a large scale. There are major competitions most weekends from April to October, and there are some major competitions during the winter months.

played late in day and what a great round, sunny and not held up at all, course was dry and in great condition. and only cost  a few quid to play. go try it, its worth a round just to rate it

  • 3.5 out of 5 2 4 1 vouchers

    By ahughe5

The course only accepts the vouchers at certain times of the day, they told me they don't want to be in the 2 4 1 scheme at all, so check when you book but it is half price £6.50 on mondays. The course is in good condition with excellent greens at present

  • 3 out of 5 Good for a twighlight round or starting out

    By plaskettm

I played this course quite a few times in the evenings over the summer.  The course itself is a pretty good layout with considerable variation between holes, making you think carefully about how to play.  The condition is not bad either, gets a big boggy after rain, but find a course in the north west that doesn't!  It suffers from over crowding at the weekends with rounds taking up to 5 hours.  Only thing I really don't like about this course is how close the greens and tees are, some of the tees are literally several feet off the back of the previous greens.  The average handicap is high and you do feel quite vunerable on some tees. In summary, OK for a quick blast on a week day or early dart from work but if your planning a day out or weekend event there are better courses nearby, including some municipals.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Good Municipal Course

    By HI ANDY CAP

i've played here the last four saturdays, {3 of them in the wind & rain which makes it even more testing },when i played yesterday all the tees & greens were back to their summer locations, no winter mats or temp greens, also the greens have been spiked for aeration & drainage, a good all round municipal, and you can even get fed and watered and a warm at The Old Hall Inn after your round of golf. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT From a Municipal Course.

  • 3 out of 5 Good, testing Municipal

A challenging municipal course with some excellent holes. Have played this many times, indeed it was the venue of my first ever round of golf. The course is generally well kept. However, being a Muni, suffers from the usual problems. Too many people on the first tee, divots not repaired etc. Enjoyable to play though. I would not put anybody off playing here at all, but those looking for a course for a society, or for a special event should maybe look elsewhere
