Herons’ Reach Golf Resort

What we say

An outstanding parkland course with a links feel to it – fairways are firm and fast with a lot of run on them. It’s also well laid out with the bunkers and hazards definitely in the right places to punish wayward strikes.

With most fairways being severely tree-lined and water featuring on several holes, course management is the name of the game here. Afterwards the modern clubhouse with its large patio overlooking the 1st tee is well worth visiting.

  • 4 out of 5 A golf course for you

    By Trevor Phillips

Please treat yourself to Heron's Reach. It is a delight, not a punishment. course in great condition, testing for the brave, enjoyable for the not so brave. A brilliant location & terrific for a group or society with a clubhouse that is spot on. Cracking. Go on treat yourself, you know you deserve it.

  • 4 out of 5 Lovely course

Challenge on every hole, well maintained greens and not too busy that play is slow. Highly recommended. Generous fairways but good drives can be punished if you are a bigger hitter off the tee. Fairly priced.

  • 1.5 out of 5 Disappointing, overcrowded and rude staff.

    By Golffanatic1

We booked a weekend stay and golf at Herons Reach.  The rooms were shabby and cramped. The restaurant was overcrowded and under staffed, the food was bordering on inedible. OK so we came for golf, put the hotel down for experience and make the best of it I decided. Having queued on the tee for 25 minutes after our pre-booked tee time I was a little frustrated but still looked forward to a relaxing game having read the other reviews on this site. I don't know who wrote them but I would question their independance. The course is flat, boring and in poor condition. My honest advice having been here, book soemwhere eles!

  • 4.5 out of 5 Herons Reach - Don't Miss it

    By Jonathan Crickmore

Having played lots of top quality tracks in my time I have to say that the design of Herons Reach is right up there with them. There are no weak holes. Each of the 18 has its own character and something to mark it out as one to remember. For me the 2nd is a classic short par 4 - a daunting tee-shot over a lake requiring only 160 yards of carry, BUT if you reach for the driver your landing area is hemmed by bushes to the right and o/b on the left, so sense would suggest a hybrid or mid-iron from the tee. The remaining approach to the green (surrounded on 3 sides by shrubbery) and guarded by well placed bunkers is still something to contend with even though the green does offer a generous landing area. The whole setup is fair to both low and high handicappers, but the closing stretch of holes 15-18 will keep you sharp as you try to get near to par on the way in. Great practice areas for driving, chipping, putting and short game are available and the bar offers a friendly service with good quality fare in a most amenable atmosphere. All in all this is NOT one to miss if you are in the area and most definately worth the trip if you are not.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Good course, poor greens

    By Dave_O

Course layout very good, some very tight driving holes. We played it off the yellow tees which made the course very short. The course is let down by condition of the greens mainly due to the amount of traffic they receive.

i couldnt fault the course or the facilities my only bug bear was the prices in the bars an resturants, you need to re mortgage your house for a pint.all in all tho we had a good weekend when decided to go into blackpool on the night.
