What we say

Cave Castle is in the minority when it comes to looking for a Hotel with its own golf course. Nestling in 150 acres of rolling countryside at the foot of the Wolds our 18-hole course provides a good test for all levels of golfer. Opened in 1989 the course is maturing well and has a good mix of undulating meadow and parkland holes. Trees and water come into play on a number of holes and the large pond in the middle of the 9th hole makes you think carefully with your tee shot. The 13th is a long dogleg par 5 which lulls you into a sense of security however beware the out of bounds on either side or the strategically placed bunkers before you turn for the green. The one special thing about Cave Castle is the peace and quiet – surrounded by farmland the only noise is the wildlife and banter of other players!

  • 4 out of 5 Cave Castle

We played as a four ball one wet Sunday morning when a lot of courses were closed due to drainage problems. the course is well set out although set off early for the 1st tee as it is quite a walk. Nice easy 1st hole leading onto a few longer and more challenging holes. Green were in good condition and to say there had been a lot of rain the course was in good condition in general. The facilities are well laid out and the friendliness of the staff second to none. Great value for money and well worth playing on 2 fore1's.

I've played Cave many times because it is terrific value with 2fore1's. Always a friendly welcome and no unneccesary time spent in shop flogging crap. It plays well, especially during off seasons when it drains better than most courses. The holes may not have great character but the greens hold up in fairness all year. have rarely found it busy even at peak weekends.

  • 3 out of 5 Impressive venue, unimpressive course

    By Steveynet

After driving through the castle gates up past the impressive Cave Castle hotel it all kind of goes downhill. Badly laid out course with much walking between holes and to the first tee. few hazards and little protection of the greens makes playing the course easy if your drive is down the middle. The pro in the shop was very helpful and pleasant, as was the presentation of the course. Worth playing the once, but I doubt i'll be going back again.

Great course, great welcome and excelent value for money. Nice layout with some good holes. A couple of marker poles could do with moving, i went bang at the side of 2 and was in trouble both times!!! I would recommend this course to anybody, all levels of golfer would enjoy this course.

Nice track . Nothing to spectacular and nothing bad . Some very good holes , some strange ( 15th) . Has a tough finishing hole . Very nice welcome and a fact sheet given out about the course , whilst we had our bacon sandwiches , before we set off , nice touch . Would definately recommend you give it a try .
