What we say

Undulating and somewhat quirky layout close to the coast and you need to take great care on the four par-3s, specially the 222-yards 12th. The course overlooks the town and North Sea and you’ll be knocked out by the views along with the wind which is virtually bound to be blowing!

Saltburn-by-the-sea Golf Club is a superb tree-lined golf course with outstanding views over the town and the sea beyond. Although relatively short, it is a challenging golf course with some particularly tricky par 3s and is quite hilly in places. Founded in 1894, the golf club has been at its present site at Hob Hill since 1896. The golf course extension to 18 holes in 1922 was designed by the legendary James Braid.

Very short parkland course wouldst bother Hunley Hall, Redcar and middlesborough golf clubs are all near by and are better courses and test of golf.

  • 3 out of 5 a canny test

a nice meadowland course with undoubtedly one of the trickiest par threes in the north the 220 yard 12 hole. the 6th and 7th holes play particularly toughly when faced with a headwind. accurate tee shots are the key to enjoying this course as the tree lined fairways punish off centre strikes. all in all a thoroughly enjoyable day even with a very blustery wind.

A great course - the front nine are almost links like with undulating fairways and several blind shots to test the nerves on your first time round. The holes work their way up and over a large hill, which was tricky in a howling gale. Back nine is good, but only the last two holes have the same character as the front nine. Non the less, really enjoyable golf!
