Hallamshire Golf Club

What we say

One of the region’s finest courses. Hallamshire is a testing moorland challenge with glorious views.  It has fast, true greens and a tough start – players who bogey the first four think themselves lucky. Highlight hole is the par-3 6th where club selection varies from a short iron to a wood, depending on the wind.

A classic 18 hole heathland layout blessed with spectacular views. Designed by the famous Harry Colt and a member of the Colt Courses collection, Hallamshire is characterised by large pockets of heather, gorse and bilberries which are being encouraged by an ongoing woodland and grassland management programme.

Was lucky enough to play this course with a member in November.  I thought for this time of year the greens were fantastic, every hole was a challenge to play and there are plenty of hills, valleys and slopes off the fairways to contend with.  Although it wasn't the longest course I've played it was one of the most challenging.  I look forward to playing this course again in the summer where this time I won't have to tee my balls up on the fairways. (Local winter rule).
