Crowborough Beacon Golf Club

Last Updated:

What we say

A terrific mature heathland layout which delightfully sits close to the highest point in Sussex at nearly 800ft above sea level, offering stunning South Downs views.

It’s a serious test – the fairways are fairly tight and are well flanked by an assortment of heather and gorse bushes. Beware of the greens too: they’re pretty nippy even at this time of year.

Star hole is the 191 yards par-3 6th which requires a rock solid long iron to a green perched beyond a gaping ravine.

we played crowborough last weekend. what a wonderful course from the welcome on arrival which was pleasant and helpful. when you walk on to the first tee the view is wonderful and maybe a little daunting for the high  handicapper as it has like most holes a carry over heather but  it is all in the mind as none of the carries are that far. every hole is a gem except maybe the 13th which seems to be put in as an afterthought (we were assured it was not), i am probably being too fussy and the hole is ok but because the rest of the course is so good it probably stands out. the facilities are fine the members and bar staff very  friendly. all in all the perfect days golf. favourite hole? all of them!! WELL DONE CROWBOROUGH

This course was wonderful in every way, from the time we arrived and looked down the first we knew it would be a good day. A bargain with the 2 for 1 vouchers we paid half price £28 it was £56, and at that money you won't find better. Some tough driving holes and green were quick to lightning fast, the gorse was also worth avoiding, your lucky to find it then you got to get it out. Some lovely holes, for me the par 3 6th hole, a 170yd all carry over a ravine, stunning. Theres not too many courses that you come off and can't find a bad hole but this was one, this course is an absolute gem. We will be back again, it is a must play.

This is the top! A beautiful layout unfortunately intersected by some small roads. The course is an adventure. Many challenging tee shots, beautiful views. If you enjoy creative play this is the place to be. Friendly staff give you a real welcome. Since the area is also used for (dog) walking and horse riding don't be surprised if a great shot is greeted with applause from an outsider.
