My freind and I have just finished this course and what a lovely surprise it was, he is a 28 handicap myself a 14, being from the north east of England I know nothing of the Kent courses but if chestfield is anything to go by then it is a great place to play, it's the middle of October and the course is in great condition, a few temporary tee boxes and a couple of place gur but nothing to hinder your game, quick ant true greens, wide fairways and hazards in good locations, even the halfway hut was open this late in the year, a real treat (although it's not halfway, after the 12th). The only negative is that I can't pinpoint a signature hole, possibly 15, but that could be because I enjoyed all the holes. Staff were great as we're the members we met, thank you for a great day. Geordie john score 77, handicap 14. Clive score 96, handicap 28.

Pro shop staff very friendly and helpful, make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The course is in great shape this summer, greens run true, wide fairways with trees causing a few issues, so course management a 'must!'.

Today was the first time that I have played this course...as a 28 handicapper, playing many different courses rather than staying at one and getting used to the course, thus lowering your handicap is of benefit...but if I did that I wouldn't get the chance to play on gems such as Chestfield!!! Me and my friend, a fellow 28 handicapper, turned up not knowing what to expect with a 2 fore 1 voucher in hand, the car park was full of expensive cars and the old buildings surrounding the course gave it a feel of a typical members only course, that was until we stepped inside the building itself, where we were given a very friendly welcome :0) The course itself is very well maintained with some wonderful views of the local area and some of the coast itself, although i would imagine on a clear day only. The holes are nicely varied, up and downhill, doglegs, with also the added difficuilty of undulating fairways and greens. The 223yd par 3 8th was a bit of a shock to the system as am not used to having to dig out the Bad Boy for a par 3, and although straight it was typical of many of the other holes that seemed easier at a glance, until you realise that the green is heavily protected by bunkers. All in all a very enjoyable round of golf...and if you want an added bonus, use a 2 fore 1 voucher, turn up shortly after 10.30 and for £22 you can play all day...happy days!!!

This is the 3rd time we have played this course and one we will be coming back to regulary. It is good value for money and the hospitality is excellent. The course suits golfers of all abilities. It's a hilly course with most holes either played uphill or downhill, however it's easily walkable and you don't need a buggy. Not too many traps to worry about and the scenery is good too! Grab a beer in the clubhouse afterwards. It is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) in the country and has a nice, cosy atmosphere. One to be played.
