The original links was laid out by Laidlaw Purves: it was on this golf course that Harry Colt distinguished himself as a leading player in 1891. A new layout was designed by the club professional the following year but the final layout was put in place by Laidlaw Purves and David Herd. Significant additional bunkering was added by James Braid in 1905 and 1909. In 1922-23 Harry Colt's then partner, Alister Mackenzie, was invited to modernise the links. Many golfers have enjoyed playing Littlestone, among them the great Harry Vardon.
Accommodation: Romney Bay House (by the 16th hole) and the Broadacre Hotel in New Romney.
