Looked for a course to have a good afternoon round whilst on holiday with my daughter (11) - From the reviews, the links courses in the area appeared to need playing several times before you could settle in and enjoy. From the Web the Merlin seemed to fit the bill for both of us 'newbies' Easy to find, well sign posted from main A39. Warm friendly welcome by pro shop and regulars that we met on the course. Greens well groomed and fast - fairways well looked after as are the tees. Watch the heavy rough - not a chance of finding you ball - somebody elses but not yours !! Light rough off fairway looks ok but lost several balls that just burrowed under the clover and vanished. Course is set part on a hill side but you don't really notice when walking round, I'm not one for combining golf and mountineering, this course is a nice walk, but several fairways have blind summits either straight up and over or on to dog legs. Not many hazzards on the fairways, but several running along side - made this very nice for the 'newbie', but a challange at the same time. If you can keep it down the middle, you'll have no problems. Overall a great afternoon golf for both farther & daughter - will certainly play this course again when down here One to try out - especally for £25 + 2fore1 voucher - pure value PS if you find any DX soft Macgregor's on the 2,9 & 11 (about 8 in total!!!)........
