Ilfracombe Golf Club

What we say

Breathtaking clifftop course within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty making a visit to North Devon’s coast a must even during the coldest winter months. It is not the longest but owing to its dramatic location, the wind is usually a major factor. You’ll be knocked out by the awesome views of the coast and harbour, too.

Ilfracombe Golf Club is renowned for being well maintained and always in good condition as well as offering visitors a warm welcome and a grand golfing day out with spectacular views from various places on the golf course. Indeed, it’s a perfect venue for summer evening rounds after which you can order your favourite tipple from the bar and take a comfortable seat to watch the sun gloriously set over the distant island of Lundy and the Bristol Channel. Short but challenging seaside layout owing to the potentially lethal combination of the prevailing south-westerly winds and undulating terrain.

Ilfracombe Golf Club is situated one mile east of Ilfracombe towards Combe Martin on the magnificent North Devon coastline and offers spectacular views along the coast and across the Bristol Channel to South Wales.

The golf course is well maintained throughout the year and although not the longest, the undulations and prevailing South Westerlies will still offer a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Don't be put off by the hills though - a number of buggies are available from the Pro Shop, enabling you to play in comfort and style.

Your Reviews

  • 2.5 out of 5 Seaside golf at its best

    By richie_rich

This a pretty and quirky course, short by modern standards but very enjoyable.  Built above Ilfracombe, and with an unusual opening 9 with a terrific very short par 3 complete with ravine!  This is very much a course overshadowed by more famous neighbours at Saunton and Westward Ho!  This is seaside golf as it should be - I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would happily play it again and again.  Yes I also played both courses at Saunton, and there is no comparision in terms of diffiiculty and quality.  Yet I enjoyed my day at Ilfracome equally and at less than half the price.  Recommended for all abilities.
