Cumberwell Park Golf Club

What we say

The Adrian Stiff designed 27-hole golf course is broken down to 3 very different 9s encompassing a perfect mixture of rolling countryside, tranquil woodland and challenging water features.

Par/yardage for combinations: red and yellow - 71/6435. Yellow and blue - 72/6430. Blue and red - 71/6587.

The first 9, the red loop is the parkland course. Undulating parkland with streams and rolling fairways.

The yellow loop, the woodland course, a mature wooded area with established trees and streams.

The blue loop, the Lakeland course, is punctuated with challenging lakes and water holes.

All greens have been built to USGA specification; the tees are built with sand based root zone mix, ensuring that temporary tees and greens are not required during winter months.

  • 4 out of 5 Great Course and Venue, shame about the price.

    By Ian Brotheridge

Played three loops of 9 on 1st Oct 2015, first the Orange, then the Red and Yellow as an 18. The wind was not the typical westerly, but from the east, which meant some holes were harder than the SI and vice versa. The Orange loop has punishing long rough and some hillside fairways, and bunkers in the centre of fairways - hard work, but fair. The Red & Yellow combination made a for great round of golf. The only issue is that Cumberwell Park do not take any 241 vouchers and £35 for 18 holes is a little too steep compared to other courses of a similar standard.

  • 4 out of 5 Very good, but at a price.

I played the Blue and Yellow (there are 4 different 9 holes courses) with a member and thoroughly enjoyed my round.  I was expecting it to be harder, but actually the SSS 69 for par 72 is pretty fair despite lots of lakes and bunkers.  The condition of the course is excellent, and there is a fair amount of interest with almost all the 18 holes we played.  Aparently the Red and Orange aren't quite so interesting, but considering this golf course is only 15 years old, it is one of the best in the area. The only negetive in my opinion is the pricing.  For visitors 18 holes will cost £45 on a Fri, Sat or Sun... and even when signed in as a member's guest its £25.  There are plenty of other courses nearby which have good deals all year round, but Cumberwell is a full-price only club!  It seems popular enough though. All in all its a great golf course with very good facilities.  If you'd prefer a first class, prestige round, then Manor House or Bowood would be my choice (and are often playable for £20 or so depending on what deals they have at the time).

  • 4.5 out of 5 First time but will be back

    By winterh

This is the first time i have played this course, I played the 9 holes of the red course. The welcome was great from all the staff and the greens and tee were great for the time of year and the rain we had over the weekend. Only draw back was the cost at £25 for 9 holes but this could be as it was the weekend, but i would still pay the price next time as the course was so good.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Another 9 holes giving a total of 36 holes ! to be played in any combination

My home course, where i've been a member for around a year or so. New 9 holes have just opened in the summer of 07 (orange course). Completely different to the other 3 nine's, this one has a good links feel about it, great greens with some fantastic burrows and undulations. Overall a good club suitable for all standards but for any single figure handicappers it's best to go off the green (back) tees which makes the course a lot more challenging. Star holes (8th-red, 16th Yellow, 26th Blue and 35th Blue). My personal favourite combination is Blue/Orange.
