Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club

What we say

You need to be on the ball from the word go at this mature rolling parkland layout in picturesque Wiltshire countryside: you start with a couple of highly demanding, long par 4s which can wreck a scorecard before the ink has dried on it. But don’t fret: the opening two holes don’t set the tone for the rest of the round which can best be summed up as fun but challenging. There’s a nice mix of holes, lovely smooth greens and great views from the top end of the course of Salisbury cathedral and the town nestling underneath it. Par-3s are a key feature with the pretty 139 yards 13th sitting in the middle of dense woodland and the 148 yards 18th over a gully providing an unusual finale.

There are 27 holes available, made up of a main 18 hole golf course which is recognised as a stern test to all types of golfer and a nine hole layout that weaves tantalisingly in and out of Salisbury Racecourse.

All 27 holes are maintained to a very high standard while the greens regularly receive high praise from the bulk of visitors. The club hosts an annual Pro-Am Tournament which attracts many of the region's top professionals, including European Tour players.

In recent years, Salisbury & South Wilts has hosted some key county fixtures, including the Wiltshire County Championship.

Stay & Play:
The Cricketfield Hotel (1 mile away) and the Grasmere Hotel.

  • 4 out of 5 tough start indeed!!!!!!!!

i've played here for 4 years and i have to say i have never seen the views in the first two images shown (its not that tight in the trees and also salisbury is 20 miles from the sea!!) the start is as tough as they say, as it normally plays into a head wind, the third is tricky too!! the greens are quality and when i play else where i am nearly always dissapointed!! extremely friendly pro shop and bar staff make this an enjoyable days golf  the top of the course offers an excellent view over the city including the cathedral this course in my humble opinion is an affordable hidden gem
