What we say

Ashfield Golf Club was officially opened by championship golfer, Fred Daly M.B.E. (R.I.P.) on Friday 28th September 1990 after over two years work designing the layout by Frank Ainsworth (of Malone golf club, Belfast and converting the land from an arable farming set up by James and Elizabeth Quinn.

The golf course has seen continuous improvement over the years with thousands of trees planted from a wide variety of species, new lakes added, maturing greens and larger tee boxes all aimed at enhancing the challenge and the enjoyment. The Clubhouse has a bar, and catering facilities are available if you phone in advance!

Your Reviews

Always enjoy playing Ashfield. Good buzz on busy days in Clubhouse. Course has matured very well and a challenge for any Golfer. 6th hole is my favourite Par 3 in the area.

  • 4 out of 5 One of the better Courses in area

As a casual Golfer - maybe a dozen times a year - I'm fairly found of this course. Its good value and has great greens. Busy on Sunday morning though as I think theres a members competition on usually.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Jewel in South Armagh

    By PaddyMurphy1965

Having discovered Ashfield only this year (I usually play Ardee) I have nothing but good things to say about this Jewel of a course just outside Crossmaglen. No.1 The Greens are amongst the best I've seen this year - having played seven or eight of the largest Courses in Louth, Armagh and Down over the summer. No.2 The facilties and bar are modern and friendly, and the members are always quick to invite visitors to join in. No.3 For a course of this standard the value for money is really excellent. I honestly cann't fathom the earlier review. I, like alot of others I know have played nearby Cloverhill once. And once for a reason!. The grass had not been cut, it was soaking wet, and I nearly got killed due to the lack of space on the fairways. Not to be compared.

Ashfield golf course is the worst golf course i have ever played. It is such an easy golf course to play and you are always in bounds no matter what you do. The golf course is really wet and they boast about it being one of the best golf courses around. They say it is the best golf course in south armagh but I played cloverhill and it was a 100 times better.Cloverhill might be wet as well but the holes are alot better.
