Ballater Golf Club

What we say

The region is best known for its legendary links, but Ballater guarantees a memorable round in beautiful Upper Deeside. It’s a gently rolling heathland track with several holes close to the River Dee – too close for some. Playing over a flat plain next to the River Dee, it’s a surprisingly diverse, testing challenge. From the 1st tee, it looks fairly straightforward but the first six holes can wreck the card, with thick, lush grass bordering the fairways. Ballater’s par 3s are class, especially the 3rd and the 200-yard-plus 9th. The 12th – a long dog-leg – is the pick of a crop of fine par 4s.

More Top 2-FORE!-1 heathland courses

Situated in Upper Deeside, this 18-hole course offers beautiful views and some hilly lies. Primarily a heathland course, further away from the river there are some holes offering a more parkland experience.

The course doesn't ease you in and starts with six of the toughest holes, including two long par threes.

Several holes run by the River Dee and many have seen their ball end up in the drink. Threading through the hills and along the river this course provides a great golfing experience for those of all abilities.
