Baberton Golf Club

What we say

After its redevelopment in 2013 and continuing improvements, Baberton Golf Club is becoming a great destination for all levels of golfers.

The par 69, 6011-yard Midlothian parkland course is one to be played with good course management. Quick and true greens are a delight, but beware the opening few holes on a blustery day.

On occasion, players may wish to leave the big stick in the bag when driving off the tee because some tight fairways pose a nasty threat.

The Baberton course features lots of blind drives to dogleg undulating fairways lined by mature trees, which makes for a memorable round.

Players will enjoy the wonderful views of the distant Forth bridges and the Scottish capital, while then being welcomed into a warm and friendly new clubhouse.

The Club has a long and distinguished history, dating back to 1893. Baberton was the birthplace of the steel shaft and you can see the original clubs and patents in the clubhouse.

Several members have gone on to represent Scotland and become professional golfers, such as European Tour player Ian Young and former World Boys Champion and Sky TV commentator Ewen Murray.

Visitors to Baberton are given a warm welcome and are free to use all of the Club's facilities. There is a putting green and practice area available before you play. Our changing rooms, bar, catering and snooker table are all available to refresh you before and after your round.

Your Reviews

  • 4 out of 5 Great use of elevation and lovely scenary

    By DMac

A great course, making full use of the rolling terrain to create a mixture of interesting holes. A couple of the long par fours stand out as real challenges, one nearly 470 yards. The new clubhouse is excellent, serving good stand-out food and offering panoramic views over the course. Greens now all in excellent shape. As the previous reviewing says, all renovation is now complete and appears to have been well worth it.

  • 4 out of 5 Beautiful parkland course with some tricky difficult holes and cracking views

    By Dpedin

Baberton has just finished building its new clubhouse and renovating all 18 greens and reshaping parts of the course. It is now a cracking par 70 with some real tricky holes and interesting green complexes. The new clubhouse is wonderful and modern with cracking views out of the panoramic lounge windows and offers a warm welcome and nice food all day long. The course is about 6,100 yards long but don’t let that fool you as with 5 par 3s the course plays longer than its yardage suggests. There are lots of mature trees, doglegs, elevation changes and blind drives to make for an interesting round. It has some cracking views towards Edinburgh and to the Forth bridges. Well worth a visit now all the building and renovation work is complete.
