MacDonald Highlands Hotel at Aviemore (Spey Valley) Golf Course

What we say

Golfers are in for a treat at the new 18 hole Spey Valley Championship Golf Course, recently voted one of the best in Scotland by the Top 100 Golf Courses of the World. Spey Valley boasts some of the most breathtaking views in the world and course designer, Dave Thomas, refers to Spey Valley as the potential jewel in his crown. Its challenging aspects and unique Highlands environment make the course an ideal venue for high-profile tournaments and charity fundraisers.

Home to the longest hole in Scotland, the par-5 5th which measures in at 641 yards.

After a hearty breakfast you'll be welcomed at the golf check-in reception, where you can hire a buggy or enjoy the walk amongst the wildlife. Bring your binoculars to spot deer, red squirrels and osprey. Then tee off towards the mountains on the driving range and play late into the long summer evenings.

  • 4 out of 5 Second best in Scotland

    By scotsplato

This course in 3 years time will be second only to Loch Lomond as in inland course. Difficult greens and many hazards make it a challenge even for the most competant of players. Add to this the occasional heavy winds and the course can really fight you all the way. A great course for the future and one any visiting golfer i have played with has enjoyed.

  • 4 out of 5 Must play golf course

    By Karlos

I've now played this course twice and my partners and myself have been the only people on the course on both occasions....Why? The course is absolutely superb without a weak hole on it and the setting is incomparable. Ok, the lack of a clubhouse is an inconvenience but the temporary arrangements in place are satisfactory. This is a must play course for our annual golf tour to the North of Scotland.
