Alice Springs Golf & Leisure Centre – Monnow Course

What we say

Alice Springs Golf and Leisure Club has a good range of par 3s from 150 to 200 yards, the round unusually finishing with two long par 3s on 17 and 18. The golf coures flows through the beautiful Usk valley and there are excellent views all around you.

The Usk isn’t the only course at Alice Springs Golf and Leisure Club which also offers the 18-hole par 69 Monnow layout. The original golf course was designed and built in 1988, a second golf course following three years later. The original golf courses were named the Kings and Queens. However, the different golf courses required two clubhouses and a final change had to be made to allow the two golf courses to be played from the present-day clubhouse. The Usk and Monnow were born in 2000 has enabled the venue to go from strength to strength.

Accommodation: Local hostelries include The Three Salmons and The Rat Trap, both in Usk.

We played the Usk course. having last visited Monmouthshire in May 06 in absolute terrible weather, we chose to visit in July. It rained all 4 days. Notwithstanding this the Usk course is fantastic, and the rain stopped whilst we played. The tees were OK and the greens immaculate, plenty of contours to demand good putting but very true. the welcome and hole visit was most enjoyable. Bad weather meant buggies were not available but the course is easy enough to walk.( is hilly ) Will definitely go back and recommend you pay a visit if in area.
