The Galvin Green gloves featuring Interface-1 technology are completely windproof to keep your hands warm.

Cabretta leather palms and super tacky fingertips provide excellent grip during colder months, while excellent breathability ensures the hands remain warm without getting damp or sweaty.

British golfer Aaron Rai, a two-time European tour winner, loves MacWet gloves so much he wears a pair every time he plays, no matter what the weather. They helped him to victory at the 2020 Scottish Open, where conditions were so bad during storm Alex that Ian Poulter reckoned they were the worst he’d ever played in.

We love how the Climatec are windproof, water resistant, and have a fleece lining over part of the back of the glove. They also have exceptional grip through the palm.

They’re available in traditional size or a longer model for more warmth around the wrist and are also machine washable so you can keep them in tip-top condition.

Pros

  • Nice fit
  • Great grip
  • Good range of sizes

Cons

  • Material feels thin

Whether you're a fan of Nike or not there is nothing not to like about these gloves. I use these personally and as far as wet-weather gloves go there are no better!

Although they are not made for keeping your hands warm, it's in the wet conditions that they come alive like a prime Jenson Button. The water-resistant microfiber palm provides an exceptional level of grip in the worst of downpours.

I'm a huge fan of how they fit, not too tight and they act like a second skin which when wearing a pair of gloves for me is vital.

Pros

  • Great fit
  • Super durable
  • Unreal grip

Cons

  • Not built to keep hands warm
Price: £24.00 / $24.99 RRP
Callaway has covered all bases with their thermal gloves this year – stylish, comfortable, and most importantly warm!

Using Opti Therm, Callway’s thermal fleece inner lining, they make sure your hands are as warm as they can be whilst on the course in freezing temperatures.

The gloves have exceptional grip in the cold, wet conditions of winter thanks to the Opti Shield outer shell. They come in a pair from small to extra large and for the price, we can’t see what’s not to like.

Pros

  • Great thermal properties
  • Good value for money
  • Fit well

Cons

  • The grip showed signs of wear

A technical microfiber material means the Rain Control give up to 40% more grip than a traditional glove in wet conditions.

Numbers like that make us think it’s always worth having a pair tucked in your bag for whenever the heavens open. They dry impressively quickly and, from our experience, the nylon fabric is extremely durable.

They’re also one of the best fitting and feeling gloves that we’ve tried thanks to the ultra-thin microfibre suede. Assuming you look after them then it’ll be money well spent on one of the best golf rain gloves out there.

Pros

  • Great for the rain
  • Comfortable
  • Solid grip

Cons

  • They ran a little small
Sizes S – XL

Price: £20.00 / $22.00 RRP
The perfect glove for those of us brave enough to play in the mid-January scramble. When the greens are still a little frosty, and you can touch your own breath, the Thermagrip will make sure your hands stay toastie.

I was a huge fan of the fleece-lined cuff as not only was it comfortable, but it did a great job of trapping the heat in.

If you ever thought that gloves couldn't get technical well think again! Thanks to Mizuno's breath thermo technology these gloves are able to convert your body moisture into new heat to keep you extra warm this winter.

Pros

  • Comfortable fit
  • Good in all conditions
  • Excellent grip

Cons

  • Fingers were a bit too long
Price: £24.99 / $27.00 RRP
From the No.1 glove brand in the game comes the WinterSof, FootJoy’s twist on a pair of thermal golf gloves. I love the extended cuff as it tucks up under a jacket or sweater sleeve beautifully to keep the cold at bay.

The Weather-Shield fleece is a godsend in the winter months protecting your fingers from freezing.

FootJoy’s Sure-Grip and Autosuede palms help with grip and feel in cold conditions. As we all know, there’s little worse than struggling to grip the club when it’s so cold that we can see our own breath, but these will help solve that.

Pros

  • Retains heat well
  • Comfortable
  • Super soft material

Cons

  • Not great grip in the rain
Sizes S – XL

If you love the feel of a leather glove but want added warmth for winter, Under Armour’s cold-weather gloves are a great option. I liked how lightweight and unrestrictive the gloves were which is definitely crucial with this style of product.

An infrared pattern inside absorbs and retains heat to keep your hands warmer. Make sure your hands stay warm all round long as the gloves use your own energy to heat you up.

Cons

  • Tight around wrists

Shane Lowry won The Open at Royal Portrush in horrendous conditions in 2019, but the Srixon staffer had no problems with grip during that wet final round as he swapped his normal Srixon Cabretta Leather glove for one of the brand’s wet weather models.

The quick-dry knit material dries quickly and guarantees optimum breathability, and microfibre suede palms ensure you won’t lose grip in wet weather.

Flexible and comfortable, these high-quality rain gloves mean you can stay on your game, no matter how bad the weather. These certainly are a great pair of gloves at a very good price.

StormGrip suede in the palm provides maximum grip in wet conditions, while the tailored lightweight mesh cuff provides an optimal fit and feel.

We particularly like that Cobra has made the index finger touch screen compatible, making it an ideal choice for those of us who use apps, a GPS device, or watch around the course. The DWR coating, a special moisture membrane, helps keep hands dry.

Pros

  • Good quality
  • Secure
  • Love the touchscreen-compatible finger

Cons

  • The thumb and fingers are too long

A winter take on one of the most popular FJ golf gloves. The StaSof is the king of Cabretta and has tour-proven performance with the likes of Billy Horschel and Adam Scott wearing the glove for a while now.

The soft Cabretta glove is not something usually seen on a winter golf glove. However for those of you, like myself who love a soft feel on the grip, this may be perfect for you.

Thanks to the Taction3 leather the StaSof maximizes water resistance for extra grip and durability and with the fleeced back you get a glove that not only keeps you warm but provides a soft grip hard to find on a winter glove.

Pros

  • Durable
  • Good grip
  • Warm fleece back

Cons

  • Not thick material
Price: £37.99 / $30.00 RRP
If I'm being honest, I used these everywhere I went during the winter. The simple, subtle design makes these ideal to partner up with any jacket or jumper on or off the course.

The Therma-FIT helps regulate your body heat within the glove preventing any of you from getting frozen fingers and struggling to grasp the club.

Nike really do think of it all, as I was pleased to find out when using the gloves that these are touchscreen-compatible! For someone who is ever using my phone for shot tracking and my watch for yardages, this is a lifesaver as I no longer have to take my gloves off to use them.

Pros

  • Great for heat retention
  • Touchscreen compatible
  • Excellent grip

Cons

  • Looser on the wrist

Best Winter Golf Glove: Buying Guide

How to choose a good winter golf glove?

Many golfers can initially overlook the golf glove as an important piece of equipment, and they would be wrong to do so. The hands are the only part of the body that remain in contact with the club throughout the golf swing and are what keep you in control at all times, so a golf glove that can give you a good grip and keep your hands warm sounds rather important. What are the key things to consider when buying a new winter golf glove? See below for some factors to consider

Insulation

The whole idea behind a winter glove is to keep your hands warm, so it may come as no surprise that they need to be well insulated. Materials like polyester and nylon help manage moisture and are always good to have in your gloves. They will often come with special liners such as Nike’s Therma-FIT or Callaway’s OptiTherm to add extra warmth.

Weather Protection

Winter golf gloves should provide high-quality insulation. With the wind and rain more likely in the off-season ensuring your golf gloves are windproof and water-resistance is also key to protect against the elements. But finding a happy balance is key, as they need to be breathable and not cause your hand to sweat as that will become uncomfortable which is not good when holding the golf club.

Size

Studies have shown that 98% of golfers wear a glove that is too big for them. A golf glove should feel very tight when you first put it on. You shouldn’t be able to pinch any material on the palm or fingers. If you can cover all of the Velcro with the fastening tab, that’s another sign it’s too big. Don’t be alarmed if your brand-new glove feels a bit restrictive at first, it will loosen up within a few minutes or a few shots on the range.

Durability

Finding a golf glove that has a great fit and feel is one thing, but finding a glove that’s also durable long-term can be hard. Nothing in golf is essentially cheap and finding a glove that is durable, comfortable, and fit greats for you can mean buying a variation of gloves until you find the right one. As do all but winter gloves especially want to use high-quality fabrics (polyester and nylon are great for winter) well well-constructed stitching and reinforced palms are also a huge help to add longevity to your golf gloves.

Feel

Even though most gloves look the same out of the pack, they’re not. Like clothes, each glove will fit a hand shape slightly better than the other, and getting a glove that’s comfortable is vital. If you’ve never played a round of golf in an uncomfortable golf glove, I wouldn’t! When you’re next trying on a glove in the shop pick up a club and make sure it feels secure on your hand, you’ll thank me later
