Technology
This is a “fashion” GPS watch pre-loaded with 34,000 courses and, like the new Touch, can be paired to a free app via Bluetooth to enter SkyGolf’s online community and get course updates. It gives distances to the front, centre and back of the green, as well as ‘TrueGround’ lay-up targets from tee to hole. You also have the option to receive alerts for texts, emails or phone calls. £199.95 includes basic features and distances, plus lay-ups. For an extra £39.95 annual fee, you get full course features, IntelliGreen technology and access to the SkyCaddie Club to upload and track scores and stats.
Tested
As reviewed in our 2014 Distance Devices Test – winner of our Gold Award: We liked the colours on offer, how you can customise your watch with different strap and bezel colours. We felt the annual fees to get the extra features was worth it, but not everyone will agree. A little thick, but easy to use and the new colours are great. Having Bluetooth connectivity makes everything simpler. Took a bit longer than others to work out which button does what. But it’s lightweight, looks the part and we liked the lay-up tool to hit to your favourite distance.

Erratic and inaccurate.
I find my Linx ok on the occasional day when it works. On other days it fails to count down the yardage and operates erratically in a number of respects. It exagerrates hugely the distances from the front of the green to the back. Its battery needs recharging after every round. I have wasted money buying this erratic product and have gone back to my old SG2 for reliability and superior battery life.
