2009, Updated Model – Review

This is designed for those wanting a firmer ball with some of the feel you get from a Tour model. Malcolm preferred this to the Tour i because of the solid feel, while Mark ranked this as his top ball. He felt it had all the feel he would require round the greens, but also said it was a cracking ball to hit off the tee.

A Tungsten infused outer core moves weight from the centre to increase MOI for better results on off centre hits.

The new Tour ix Golf Ball is the most technologically advanced and longest tour ball Callaway have ever made, featuring innovative 4-piece inertia technology. 4 pieces, 2 cores, 1 unbeatable ball. One pack includes one dozen golf balls.

The technologically advanced Tour ix Golf Ball features 4-piece inertia technology and dual core construction designed to optimize distance. It has a Tungsten-Infused Outer Core. The ball’s high-density outer core moves weight away from the center of the ball for increased Moment of Inertia (MOI) resulting in reduced driver spin for increased distance. The ball’s dual core construction allows for great distance off the tee while still offering spin around the green. The softer inner core provides low spin off the driver for great distance while the firmer outer core provides high driver speed and high chip-shot spin around the green. The Mantle Layer works with the dual core to produce high ball speed and its higher density moves more weight away from the center to increase MOI and reduce driver spin to maximize distance. The ball additionally has a New Thermoset Urethane Cover which provides superior feel and short-game spin for excellent greenside control. Features include a refined HEX Aerodynamics with Sub-HEX Design. Optimized design reduces drag even further for longer and more stable ball flight. Finally, Reaction Injection Molding (RIM).
Utilizing a reaction Injection molding Process called RIM, a seamless cover with uniform thickness is applied to enable unparalleled shot-to-shot consistency.

I was fortunate to win three of these in a competition, otherwise i would not have probably bought these. My normal ball is the prov 1,but having used this ball the last two weeks i have to say it performs just  as good.Off the tee it seems to hold up a bit better into a wind, also around the greens there was just as much spin control, overall a serious competitor for the pro v 1 lovers!
