What we say...

The TaylorMade Distance+ golf ball is designed for speed.

TaylorMade revealed the two-piece 2021 Distance+ golf balls on the same day they revealed the all-new premium five-piece TP5 and TP5x balls.

The TaylorMade Distance+ golf ball.

Distance+ sits at the opposite end of the price scale at just £18.99 per dozen for a ball that is targeting amateur golfers, beginners and higher-handicappers. Despite being cheap the Distance+ presents amazing value which makes it one of TaylorMade’s best golf balls.

It has an ionmemer cover and is designed to give maximum driver distance with a mid launch.

The React Speed Core and 342 Aerodynamic Dimple Pattern help increase the ball’s carry distance. With 77 compression, TaylorMade say you can expect a soft feel and mid-high wedge spin.

The TaylorMade Distance+ golf ball has a new Plus Alignment Aid.

The ball should also help you on the greens thanks to the Plus Alignment Aid, designed to make lining up your putts easy and provide instant feedback of your roll.

How does the Distance+ fit into TaylorMade’s 2021 golf balls line-up?

The Distance+ is the lowest-priced ball in TM’s collection and the only two-piece model, competing against the likes of the Srixon AD333 and Callaway Supersoft.

At the top of the range is the five-layer all-new TP5x and TP5 models. They are TaylorMade’s tour-level premium ball offerings and sit at the highest RRP of £49.99 per dozen. Both balls have a cast urethane cover and a new Tour Flight Dimple Pattern for improved performance. These are the balls you’ll see the likes of Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Tommy Fleetwood, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa and Matthew Wolff playing on the European and PGA Tours.

Then comes the three-piece Tour Response. Aimed at the average club golfer it has many of the hallmarks of a market-leading tour ball – three layers, 100 per cent urethane cover – but comes in a lot cheaper with an RRP of £39.99 per dozen. We’re big fans of the ball and it performed very impressively when we tested it against Titelist Pro V1 (read it here).

Next in line is the TaylorMade Soft Response golf ball, with it’s three-layer construction and Ionemer cover. It’s designed to perform well at moderate swing speeds with its soft compression providing great feel. TaylorMade say new U-shaped dimples extend flight especially well at lower spin rates and with an RRP of £24.99 per dozen it’s a great option for amateurs.
