What we say...

The TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Ball is the first 5-layer tour ball. Each layer is designed to provide optimal performance on every shot.

It has the benefits of the TP Black and the TP Red in one ball. This ball is long off every club, has increased short game spin and controlled launch and spin off irons.

The Penta is engineered The world’s first and only five-piece ball. Each of the five layers in the Penta has been designed to optimise performance in five playing categories – off the tee; long-iron play; mid-iron play; short-iron play and wedge play.

For example, the super-soft low compression material in the core is activated with high driver swing speeds to promote a higher launch angle and lower spin rate for more distance while the cover is designed to ‘grab’ wedges to produce additional spin from 100 yards and in.

This is a proper all round golf ball. Great off the tee, with plenty of distance and air time, plus safe to play with in all conditions and additional spin around the greens is vital.

Taylormade Balls User Reviews

  • 5 out of 5 Superb ball for the better player

    By Ping man

Anyone faulting this ball falls into that group of golfers using pro v1s off a 24 plus handicap. They do not hit the ball well enough to see the amazing benefits. I am a 2 handicapper with a 115mph driver swing speed. These balls are excellent and I see simular results to the pro v family.

  • 5 out of 5 Very, very good.

    By philly2kuk

Well I have to disagree with the other rating - 1 out of 5? This ball is fantastic. I used to play pro v1x as I found the pro v1 shorter (but better spin into a green) but the penta is not only as long as the pro v1x but is spins like a standard pro v1 for me. The feel is great and the durability is good too, unless you hit a few wayward ones out of bounds....   I'd suggest this to any consistent ball striker as it's a good ball, certainly as good as the pro v1 and I've got several friends and even my local pro that have also switched. The only downside is the price, but lets face it the pro v1 isn't cheap.

  • 1 out of 5 Completely unpredictable performance

    By irvtheswerv

These are hopeless around the green, and give totally unpredictable results.  No 2 shots feel the same and they are very short, requiring me to hit half a club more than when using a Prov1*.  I cannot recommend these at all and give them the lowest possible rating.
