What we say...

Pint test: No leakage, no tide mark, hint of dampness inside the jacket.

Lunchbox test: Jacket: yes Trousers: no

Drying test: 3hrs

Cross makes lots of ski wear, so you can rely on its technology being up there alongside the best. We were particularly impressed by the trousers, which would be ideal as everyday on-course winter wear.

Leave your normal casual golf trousers at home and just wear these, because they are nowhere near as bulky as most waterproofs, plus they let you breathe and are fully washable. An elasticated waist, zipped fly, double pockets and Velcro ties guarantee a comfortable fit no matter what the conditions.

Cross’s major selling point has to be its stretchable FTX fabric, which is used throughout the golf suit. It stretches loads and has no problems returning to its original shape and size, so if you’re not the gentlest on your clothing, or are prone to piling on a few extra pounds, Cross could be a great option. The golf jacket had removable half-sleeves – useful in muggy, showery weather.

Waterproof stretchable FTX fabric, with all the features expected of a top quality waterproof golf suit.
