The Hybrids Test 2014: Benross RIP/HOT/MAX SPEED 2

Cost: £89.99

Tech: Generates a powerful, controllable ball flight desired by the stronger player. The HOT SPEED 2 is larger, with more loft designed to offer more forgiveness.

What we said… James Ridyard: “I like the head shape, similar to the Adams Mini but with more offset. White score lines contrast nicely with the head. Felt solid and well balanced. Was forgiving but not overly long. Shaft and grip a nice touch.” Joel Tadman: “I like the shape, it’s compact but there’s more hitting area than you think. Quite a low trajectory but felt solid from a variety of strike points.” Peter Ward: “Like the tacky grip. Good shots felt great.” Ross Nichols: “Even my HOT SPEED 2 was workable. Nice to hit with lots of forgiveness on offer.”

Pros: Popular shapes with solid impact feel.

Cons: RIP model lacked a bit of forgiveness.
