The Hybrids Test 2014: Cobra Baffler XL
Cost: £129
Tech: A high MOI design with 20g tungsten perimeter is designed to increase distance and forgiveness. Sole rails aid a clean strike.
What we said... James Ridyard: “Head design is quite rounded, easy to align. The two-tone blue with a line running parallel to the face helps alignment. It felt light, lots of weight in the sole. Very forgiving on off-centre hits, high-launching.” Joel Tadman: “Difficult to hit a really bad shot. Love the two-tone blue but the offset face doesn’t appeal to my eye. Looks like a game improver club.” Peter Ward: “Really like the look, went well from moderate rough, felt like I could rip it even when it was sitting down.” Ross Nichols: “Quite forgiving, high flight, bad shots went ok, head and shaft felt solid.”
Pros: Loads of tech and lofts on offer.
Cons: Head design and finish is unique.
