The Hybrids Test 2014: John Letters TR47
Tech: A two-piece cup face is combined with a PVD plated sole to reduce friction from the turf and maintain clubhead speed.
What we said… James Ridyard: “The curved leading edge is not inviting to hit off a tight lie but adds versatility in the rough. Easy to control but not overly long, distance was consistent.” Joel Tadman: “Not a fan of the matt blue shaft but the head design is flawless and the sole looks cool. Felt solid at impact but not as long as others on test.” Peter Ward: “One of my favourites. I like the blue shaft, it sits great behind the ball and the face feels hot. I was really confident with this.” Ross Nichols: “I like the head shape but the stock grip is spongy, can’t imagine it will perform well in the wet.”
Pros: Compact shape, premium sole finish.
Cons: Unusual colour combos. Hard feel.
