Ping i25

The Hybrids Test 2014: Ping i25

Cost: £185

Tech: Designed to look more like an iron with a squarer leading edge on a more compact head. Flatter face reduces bulge and roll. Progressive CG locations.

What we said… James Ridyard: “Certainly looks different to the i20, more compact with a deeper face. Aimed at flighting it lower, reduced versatility from rough but easy to hit straight.” Joel Tadman: “A penetrating, flat trajectory was easy to come by. It felt strong out of the middle and the feel encouraged me to really go after it.” Peter Ward: “Certainly has a better player look to it. Was able to get the weight of shaft that suited me best, but it wasn’t as forgiving as I had hoped.” Ross Nichols: “I love the finish and it really flies when you catch it.”

Pros: Ideal shape and size. Reliable performer.

Cons: Lacked forgiveness at times. Pricey.
