The Hybrids Test 2014: Yonex XP
Cost: £149
Tech: The Dual Tungsten Power System is counterbalanced by the lightweight shaft to produce maximum power. Adjustable lofts.
What we said… James Ridyard: “Head shape is round, face appears small but frames the ball well. Felt powerful from the sweetspot, lost a lot of distance away from it though. High flight when struck pure. Deep face is equally adept from rough and tee.” Joel Tadman: “Large head size will boost confidence of game improvers. Feels soft but hot out of the middle. Nice to have the ability to strengthen the flight.” Peter Ward: “Crown design works. Has a good weight, easy to swing. Evenly balanced and powerful.” Ross Nichols: “I like the larger head. Powerful and forgiving but hosel is too imposing.”
Pros: Super feel. Easy to strike from all lies.
Cons: Large and funky head won’t please all.
