Irons Test 2014: Benross RIP SPEED 2
Cost: £399.99 steel £429.99 graphite
Tech: The compact profile, smaller offset and narrow sole and top-edge all suit the eye of the accomplished golfer. True Temper Dynamic Gold and Golf Pride Multi-Compound Grips as standard.
What we said... James Ridyard: “Little chunky for a better player, especially the top edge. They appear quite lofted with a wide sole but went a long way. They look like they should fly due to the size, the finish is pretty standard but nice. Pretty firm-feeling and a touch heavy which I like, gave me high swing speeds.” Joel Tadman: “Nice finish, lack of offset. Still a bit chunky and difficult to align at times. Felt quite soft but wasn’t long.”
Pros: Free grip and shaft upgrades enhance feel and stability.
Cons: A little large for the category. Harder feel won’t please all.
