Irons Test 2014: Mizuno JPX EZ Forged
Cost: £80 steel £120 graphite, per club
Tech: Delivers the distance of the JPX EZ series with the soft, solid feel of Mizuno’s exclusive Grain Flow Forging process.
What we said… James Ridyard: “I like the darker finish. It feels soft for a GI iron which helped achieve a consistent trajectory, even on shots I didn’t quite strike. Less offset would boost workability.” Joel Tadman: “Has the feel of a better player club but looks of a GI iron due to offset and blade length.” Gee Gioia: “Penetrating flight, felt lighter than others and not as long but landing points were consistent.” Adam Holdgate: “Nice big hitting area but the flight curved a lot on poor strikes. Felt great on well-struck shots with a soft, powerful sensation. Long too.”
Pros: Feel of a player’s iron with forgiveness thrown in.
Cons: Adjusting to new colours will take time.
