TaylorMade RocketBladez Max

Irons Test 2014: TaylorMade RocketBladez Max

Cost: £1,299 graphite

Tech: The Speed Pocket works with an ultra-thin face design and improved Inverted Cone shape to promote consistently high ball speeds and distance.

What we said… James Ridyard: “These should suit very low swing speeds due to the light 55g graphite shaft. I actually found I needed to swing it slower to hit it further, so the premise delivers. The head itself is forgiving and it was surprisingly workable due to the lack of offset. The dual colour top edge makes it look slimmer than it is.” Adam Holdgate: “One of my longest but I didn’t feel in total control of the clubhead. Dispersion was ok but I wouldn’t feel confident hitting to a small green.”

Pros: Forgiving, light feel will help beginners. Confidence-inspiring look.

Cons: Not best-suited to fast swing speeds.
