Wilson C100

Irons Test 2014: Wilson C100

Cost: £449 steel £549 graphite

Tech: Powerful and easy to hit thanks to innovative exoskeleton technology. Black PVD finish reduces glare.

What we said… James Ridyard: “Loads of offset which help slicers but reduces workability. The head shape is pretty standard, the flight wasn’t as high as expected given the under-cut cavity and high lofts.” Joel Tadman: “Fair amount of offset, stark contrast between face and edges makes the grooves appear more prominent and makes square alignment easy. Mid flight but a touch spinny.” Gee Gioia: “Felt like I had control of the flight and it felt powerful off the face.” Adam Holdgate: “There‘s a big hitting area, it was consistently long and straight with excellent feel and feedback on the strike.”

Pros: Forgiving, good feel, easy to aim.

Cons: Dark finish an acquired taste.
