Yonex Ezone Forged MB

Irons Test 2014: Yonex Ezone Forged MB

Cost: £1,295 steel

Tech: Hand forged in Japan, these blades are designed for the advanced player looking for consistent spin performance and distance control.

What we said… JR: “Slim head, little offset and square leading edge are all great but shape of the toe is odd, particularly the top end, where the highest point is beyond the edge of the grooves. It feels great when you catch it, but if you’re off-centre or catch the ground wrong you’ll know about it. Very sharp grind, little forgiveness.” JT: “True blade, minimal offset. Looks nice from the back and good on top too. Super feel when struck well but lose a lot on off-centre hits.”

Pros: Looks sexy from the back, super-soft feel from the centre.

Cons: Lacks forgiveness even for a modern-day blade.
