Irons Test 2014: Yonex VXF
Cost: £349 steel £489 graphite
Tech: VXF Irons feature a new 10% larger head design. Double undercut cavity construction increases the sweetspot for maximum power and forgiveness.
What we said... James Ridyard: “It feels light, mainly in the head. It’s nice to look at with a deep face, creating a flat trajectory. The wide sole will be good from the semi rough and the long irons were surprisingly easy to hit.” Adam Holdgate: “I got on really well with these, it felt really hot from the sweetspot and forgiveness was high too. Consequently it was difficult to hit a really bad shot. I love the modern clean look and the head looks bigger than the others, which boosts confidence.”
Pros: Forgiveness and distance in a traditional head shape.
Cons: Large head size makes it look more lofted.
