What we say...

The Callaway FT-3 has been on the market for a while, and has helped several pros notch up Tour victories. Our first impression was that it’s a massive improvement over the original Callaway Fusion driver.

The carbon body still makes the driver sound different to a titanium head, but boy is it powerful. It’s a real butch-looking golf club, which powers the golf ball on a piercing ball flight, feeling great in the process. With three different golf shot bias set-ups you have the power to influence golf ball flight, although the slightly closed face of the neutral bias would be ideal for a lot of club golfers.

While we love the performance of the Callaway FT-3 it is a style of golf club we have seen before, so in our book it doesn’t push boundaries in the same way the Nike or Cleveland drivers do.

The Callaway Fusion FT-3 Driver has a 460cc head which combines the power of titanium with the forgiveness of carbon composite. 44grams of weight is positioned to create a draw, neutral or fade bias.

The 460cc Big Bertha FT-3 Driver is a combination of  an ultra-hot titanium cup-face for blazing distance with Fusion technology for incredible accuracy. The Callaway Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 Driver is a 460cc multi-material breakthrough driver designed to deliver the ultimatum in high performance.

Fusion Technology is all about the combination of two distinctly different materials in the club head. An ultra-hot titanium cup face a & a super light carbon composite body. The body of the club head is very light so it frees up 44 grams of discretionary weight nearly a quarter of the weight of the entire club head which is distributed inside various parts of the head to benefit golfer's unique swing types & ball flights. The titanium cup face, with patented  Variable Face Thickness (VFT) Technology, has a much larger effective hitting area for greater distance on off-centre shots.

The FT-3 Driver's 460cc club head is the largest allowable head volume under the Rules of Golf. It serves to increase Moment of Inertia (MOI) for extreme forgiveness on off-centre hits & exceptionally consistent ball speed up, down & across the face. Fitted with a top quality Aldila Fusion NVS graphite shaft to give every golfer more club head speed.

  • 5 out of 5 What a Driver !

    By Jensen

I've just bought this club second hand for £66 from Golf Bidder.co.uk. Although it's now about 3-4 years old - what a club it really does fly. Personally I love the sound off the face, far far better and superior to the dull cricket bat thud of the Cobra L4V I've exchanged it for. I've read in Today's Golfer that the shaft is the most important thing in the club as this is the engine, well what an engine this has. The Aldila NVS 55 R is fantastic. I've got an Aldila NVS in my Cobra Baffler Rescue and they really are brilliant. There's no need to try and hit the ball with this club, just let it drop into place with an easy swing and it flies. Third round today with it and I hit one 250 yards.  Fantastic club

  • 4 out of 5 Top Driver

Tried this on the way to picking a new big dog and although I never decided to put it in my bag I loved almost everything about it, FT-I's and FT-5's are undoubtedly brilliant clubs, but for this price you can't go wrong

  • 5 out of 5 no need to upgrade to the FT-5 or FT-i with this club.

    By GARY HENDERSON

This is by far and away the best driver ever made in my eyes. I have used the FT 3 for 12 months now and it is awesome.. Since I have tried the newer version FT-5 and the FT-i but FT3 still comes out on top for me. It is so easy to shape and hit straight...20/10

If you can see past the callaway thump then you will find a very good piece of kit that hits it miles

  • 5 out of 5 A BIG PROBLEM

    By Jonathan789789

the problem with this club is that u will over hit every par 4, which is a shame. hit it 320 yards is never useful lol joking, It is the best club in the bag and strangely the straight one too. It is a shame that callaway have stopped making them :(

  • 5 out of 5 does exactly what it says on the tin!

A long, accurate and forgiving driver. I own one with a draw bias, which really helps to iron out the dreaded slice. Pricey but worth every penny if it hits the fairway a long way down!
