What we say...

We had high hopes for the Cleveland Launcher Comp as the head is a gorgeous shape and just seemed to scream “hit me!” to all of us. The carbon crown on the roof of the driver is subtle and neither overstated or intrusive.

Less experienced golfers may be a little intimidated as, unusually, there is no alignment aid on the crown of the driver to help you position the golf club against the golf ball, and ultimately the target.

Pro tester Daryl loved this one. The simple, unfussy design of the head was a delight that most good golfers would love. The golf ball flight was long and high and seemed to stay in the air for ever. And with the big head inspiring lots of confidence you didn’t get the feeling you were going to miss a single shot.

The real difference we all noticed with the Cleveland Launcher Comp driver was the sound. You no longer hear the high-pitched ringing of titanium on golf ball – the carbon crown dampens this to a dull, less inspiring thud. Nevertheless, a great golf club that has found its way into Vijay Singh’s hands and if you are into carbon crown drivers this is a clear winner.

The Cleveland Launcher 460cc Driver Combines the benefits of lightweight carbon-fibre composite with the strength of titanium to create the ultimate driver.
