What we say...

Ping split the titanium driver market in two with the launch of the Ping G2 Driver late last year. By then Tour pros had already put the golf club to devastating work and were lining their pockets with cash in the process! Over the last decade we’ve got used to new drivers costing an arm and a leg but, amazingly for a tour-endorsed driver, the Ping G2 bucks the trend.

In fact, we’ve found it substantially cheaper than the £249 rrp and, quite simply, it’s a bit of a bargain. We love the golf ball-sized alignment aid on the crown of the driver, and it really does help you to accurately take aim.

The 460cc head looks massive behind the golf ball and its performance is right on the legal limits. The Ping G2 inspires confidence and is extremely forgiving even when you spray golf shots around the face.

Our pro tester, Daryl Evans, commented on the solid sound and feel from the head which is something you don’t get from a carbon crown driver. We also felt it was one of the most consistent and accurate drivers we tested. The Ping G2 is an all-round good-looking, high-performing driver that suits both higher handicappers and Tour pros.

Footnote: The race to become TG’s number one driver was a very close run battle with TaylorMade’s r7 quad ht.

At 460cc this driver relies on several technological advancements to pack unsurpassed power. Internal weighting reduces spin and increases launch angle.

Got one early '06 and wouldn't be without it now. I KNOW I'm gonna drive it OK with this in my hands.

BUY ONE! Its got me down to 13 hcp from about 22! Its so easy to hit, a lovely sound and draws when i tell it to. Mates just bought a G5 and hes getting on great with that, but i dont see much difference. Prices for G2 will be below £100. I wont be looking to change for years, or until i turn pro. Can't praise it enough.

Being an average 18Handicapper, who's driving was at best intermittent, i got hold of a nearly new G2 11.5 loft. I have never looked back. I can now hit it miles and straight to boot. The head gives you loads of confidence, the no fuss look lets you concentrate on hitting the ball, with no worry of your ear drums being split on contact!!! All in All a great club for any standard of golfer
