TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad Driver Review

What we say...

It’s all-black finish has to make the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad the coolest driver of the year. But super-cool wasn’t enough for this to land a gold award.

It feels really solid and stable, with weight positioned further apart than in any other r7 incarnation. We loved hitting it and got admiring looks as we pounded shots down the range.

We just feel that, for anyone who already has an r7 425 or Quad, there’s not enough performance difference to warrant another £279.

Forgiving and easy to launch. Four movable weights give players the power to change the centre of gravity location.

My first descent Driver, i used the square Frazer drive and i was playing off 21, lacking distance with it i wanted to lower my handicap so i went for the the Superquad because of high ratings and the changable weights thing. Best descicion of my game, Now i hit it 250+ and now i'm playing off 13. and i'm only 16. :D

  • 5 out of 5 Buy the TP version....

    By TP19

Having discovered my old Taylormade R540 was becoming illegal at the start of this year. I always loved this club so Taylormade was the first manufacturer i looked at to replace my beloved outlaw. The superquad was the only one for me. It just looks amazing. If God created a golf club this would be it. The TP version is perfection (as oppossed to the toed-in looking regular superquad). It took roughly three months for me to convince my non-golfer wife that the price tag was justifiable. She eventually realised that i HAD to have this golf club. Having tried it with the aid of a swing tracking computer i was told the 9.5 degree stiff shafted version was the one for me. The sound of the club was amazing and confidence it instilled in me madde me bearly able to contain my excitement. I shopped around various different pro shops and eventually bought the club for £330 which i reckon was a bargain. This was three months a go and i can safely say i am delighted with this club. It is forgiving, long and i can honestly say changed me from a long but occasionally wild player to a straight, long and confident one who is thinking birdie on even the longest par fours. The movable weight system is a nice touch and it does make notable difference particularly i felt with trajectory. But thats not what this is club is about. Anyone playing off 10 or better should try this club, even if its a demo in the proshops net, Hell just pick it up, that should be enough.

  • 4 out of 5 ANOTHER LEVEL!

    By 2PUTTSHANKUR

Again i had my previous driver for years. It was Burrows Mac Powerspere with an inverted cone in the bottom of the head. Got it free at The London Golfshow 2006. Drew alot of attention on the range & on the course which i loved because it was designed to be LOUD!. Anyway, time to update & as soon as i saw the Taylormade R7 Superquad i knew i had to have one. Hitting further & a tad more consistently. Only downside is the lack of attention now & i'm told i need a stiff flex shaft.

nobody can deny this is a great looking club. when used correctly its a monster, however i always feel after a good strike that the clubhead is about to explode into a million pieces, it just doesnt feel solid

This has got to be the best club i have ever bought. As soon as i bought it it lifted my confidence and started to rip every drive. There is no doubt i would ever change this driver, but maybe to buy a new one evry couple of years!

Thank you Taylormade I recently purchased and had custom fitted one of your new weapons from a new and exciting custom fitting centre in my home town of Wallasey, Planet Golf 2000. Through an excellent fit on a launch monitor I have gained extra yardage and accuracy! What an absolutely fantastic looking club BRILLIANT! The hcp is coming down this year1

As a fan of Taylormade equipment I have had all of the previous R7 quads and a ping G5, so I knew straight away that I would have to purchase one of the new models. The spec was the same as always 9.5 stiff, I was fortunate to get mine before they went on general release in the UK and have had it for a few weeks now, this club is awsome I have gained upto 10 yards on my drives and the accuracy has improved this club looks the business as soon as yuo take it out of your bag, a five star club from Taylormade
