What we say...

Wilson Staff D300 Fairway Review: You need to know

Wilson’s D range is designed for pure distance. Micro vortex generators on the crown reduce drag and improve club speed. An extremely light overall weight, means you use the same amount of effort but the club travels quicker at impact. A carpenter 455 steel face is specifically designed to power shots off the tee, fairway or out of the rough.

Wilson Staff D300 Fairway Review: We say

The whole D300 range concept (driver, fairway, hybrid and irons) came under some serious scrutiny during our testing process, as every club unwittingly challenges the norm. The fairway’s head shape is unconventional in that it’s small but wide from face to back and two testers thought the small size made the shaft feel really long.

With the matt black crown being a very similar colour to the clubface we thought it was difficult to see the face especially as there’s no alignment aid. It’s fair to say the D300 wasn’t our favourite 2018 fairway so it’s no surprise it posted average ball speed and carry distance data.

Wilson Staff D300 Fairway Review: Verdict

D300 is aimed squarely at the club golfer, but we feel its smaller head is likely to zap confidence from a chunk of the very golfers it’s supposed to inspire. Which means it’s difficult for us to heartily recommend in 2018.
