Callaway’s new Apex Pro 19 irons are a completely new category for the brand, creating their first ever forged Tour performance iron with advanced distance technologies.

Callaway say the Apex Pro 19 iron is aimed at better players who want all the benefits of a Tour-level design without sacrificing ball speed or distance.

To create the Apex Pro 19, Callaway used extensive input from the world’s best players, and say their feedback and standards played a significant role in how they developed a classic look and Tour shape.

A forged, 1025 mild carbon steel body gives a soft feel and provides the sound and feel synonymous with an Apex Iron. It combines with proprietary urethane microspheres designed into a forged Tour iron for the first time, which incorporate over one million tiny air pockets that absorb unwanted vibration without slowing the face.

TESTED: Which Callaway iron suits me?

Callaway’s 360 Face Cup promotes high ball speeds across the face, creating a long, consistent distance in the long and mid irons. In the short irons, they have implemented a spin control VFT Face for aggressive shot-making in your scoring clubs.

In addition, Callaway have infused an average of 50g of Tungsten into each iron to locate the CG positioning for exceptional ball flight and pinpoint control.

Callaway Apex Pro 19 Irons: TG Verdict

Judging by our website traffic Apex irons were the most eagerly awaited iron launch of 2019. Apex Pro didn’t waste any time getting down to business on tour, either, winning their first week out in the hands of Xander Schauffele. Unlike the previous model there’s cup face technology in the long and mid irons (3-7), which adds some extra zip, making the Pro’s longer irons slightly more playable than some of the competition.

We don’t often endorse “Pro” model clubs, but we reckon Apex Pro might suit up to a six handicapper as long as you’re a con dent ball striker. If you’re in any doubt choosing between the Pro or standard Apex 19, our data suggests you’re putting over 10 yards (of 7-iron carry) on the line by choosing the Pro, which is significant. If you’re good enough, they’re a cracking set of irons.

Callaway Apex Pro 19 Irons: Key Features

Extremely Soft Feel
Callaway say they have created a new standard for incredibly soft feel from a forged 1025 mild carbon steel body, and for the first time ever have engineered our proprietary urethane
microspheres into a forged iron. The 1025 carbon steel body promotes amazing Apex
sound and feel, and the urethane microspheres consist of over one million tiny air
pockets that absorb unwanted vibration without slowing the face.

Long, Consistent Distance With Playability In A Tour Performance Iron
For the first time ever, Callaway have engineered their 360 Face Cup into a Tour
performance iron. Face Cup employs a shallow, flexible rim around the perimeter of the
face that flexes and releases at impact to promote fast ball speed for consistent
distance on centre hits and off-centre hits. In the short irons, the spin control VFT Face
is designed for pinpoint shot-making in your scoring clubs.

Optimum Ball Flight and Control
The multi-material construction allows Callaway to infuse on average 50 grams of Tungsten into each iron, so that they can locate the CG in each iron with extraordinary precision while maintaining the flexibility of the Face Cup. This tungsten promotes optimal shot-making, ball flight, and control for scoring performance through the set.

Tour Influenced Shaping and Design
This is a classic look that the best players want to see with a straighter leading edge, higher toe, thin top line, and a smooth hosel transition. Their extensive input played a significant role in how Callaway designed this set.
