What we say...
As the stats suggest, this was the most forgiving iron in this category. It features a higher MOI than you might expect for what is a ‘players club’ and the stabilising bars help give the S57s a little more feel. Jon noted a higher launch and Tom couldn’t miss with it.

The S57 just missed a podium finish partially due to the slightly high dispersion rate. Jon and Dave thought the stabilising bar in the back of the head offered more forgiveness than most; Chris had no complaints. Although distance isn’t the priority, Pro tester Chris flew his 6-irons a whopping 200 yards.

The Ping S57 Iron provides golfers who prefer a tour-inspired design the ideal blend of feel, forgiveness and distance control. The small, stainless steel head is engineered as a players iron with an increased moment-of-inertia. A dense tungsten toe weight, longer hosel and a small cavity combine to raise the MOI for the additional forgiveness.
Its dual stabilising bars in the cavity and the optimised CG location produce the solid feel and distance control expected from a blade design. The machined face and grooves, player-preferred offsets and the lower, penetrating ball flights make it the perfect choice for golfers who put shot-making at the top of their list. The brushed silver chrome finish makes it an attractive choice for the best in the game.
The Ping S57 Irons just missed out on recieving an award in this years Today's Golfer Irons Test, issue 270.
