What we say...

The Burner iron franchise has been one of the most successful in TaylorMade’s history and with the 2.0 model the company have really looked to move this on a notch. The previous model was designed in pods of two or three irons so that long golf irons performed differently from the mid and short irons. However, this time round TaylorMade engineers have designed each club independently so they can more precisely place the CG to optimise the launch of each club. The irons also feature TaylorMade’s inverted cone technology which has been around for a few years and is designed to improve ball speed on off-centre strikes. However, again this technology has been slightly tweaked in each individual club so it is strategically placed throughout the set. Elsewhere, a new flight control shaft has been designed to promote a higher launch and more power in the long irons with more spin and shot-stopping capability in the shorter clubs.

Taylormade Irons User Reviews

  • 4 out of 5 Shafts snapped

    By Max Avery

I bought these irons after extensively trying them out and was AMAZED by how long, accurate and how much they spun! Then after having them for about a week the shaft in my seven iron SNAPPED!!!! I am pretty sure it is the new super light shafts they have been using in these irons, however I could have just had the wrong flex as I do have a very fast swing. When my seven iron snapped I actually hit a very flush shot and did not take a large divot. Under further inspection of the broken club the shafts where paper thin. These irons are INCREDIBLY good however you don't get your moneys worth for the time that you will inevitably have them for!

Upgraded recently from an old set of Ben Sayers irons. I did try the R11 Irons also, but prefered the feel of these. I am now dropping down at least 1 club, recently overhit a par 3 180yrd with a 5 iron by at least 15yrds! they really do flie straight and long. Absoluteley effortless to hit too, its almost like you have not "hit" anything, the club face has simply kissed the ball on its way toward the green. Great game improver, i am looking for these to get me from my current 20HC to low teens by the end of summer 2011.
