What we say...

Titleist’s 718 AP2 irons is an upgraded version of the tour-proven consistent AP2 model that delivers ‘pure forged feel’

The new Titleist 718 AP2 improves upon the technology and performance that have made AP2 the gold standard of modern tour irons. The co-forged, cavity back design provides ultimate playability with consistent distance and forgiveness, packaged in a tour- validated profile that delivers pure forged feel.

Josh Talge, Vice President of Marketing at Titleist, said. “AP2 is the most popular tour iron globally because it combines the look and feel tour players demand with the precise distance control they need to consistently hit their target, shot after shot,”

“For everyone else, it’s the tour iron within reach, because it is so forgiving.”

Titleist 718 AP2 Irons: Features

New look forged body and face insert

A thinner forged body and face insert constructed of high-strength spring steel increases launch and ball speed for more distance. An improved Centre of Gravity (CG) progression, with a lower and more centred CG in the long irons, improves speed performance on off-centre hits for precise distance control on every swing.

Precise perimeter weighting

Forgiveness and stability are delivered through precise perimeter weighting and a unique co-forged construction pioneered by Titleist R&D, with an average of 57.4 grams of high-density tungsten placed in the heel and toe of the long and mid irons. New high-density tungsten caps co- forged into the perimeter further increase MOI for maximum forgiveness at the AP2’s constant, tour-preferred blade length.

Tour-preferred profile

A tour-preferred profile offers typical Titleist look, sound and pure forged feel with a refined leading edge for more efficient turf interaction and consistent contact.

Titleist 718 AP2 Irons: TG Verdict

Our test pro really liked the AP2, as for him they generated reliable and consistent distance numbers. With traditional lofts the AP2s aren’t built for speed or distance; if that’s your bag you really need to look at the 718 AP3 instead. Anyone buying a set really must take advantage of Titleist’s excellent tting service. It’s worth remembering come September 2019 the 718 range will be two years old so are likely to revamped or replaced.
