What we say...

Tech

The 200’s feature what Wilson call “Right Light” Technology which means they’ve been optimised for you to swing at your normal speed but the club head will travel quicker. There’s also a speed sole with thin face transition to deliver driver like face spring for maximum distance.

Our verdict:

It doesn’t happen often but its really satisfying when we pull a club from the TG test bag with low expectations, before we all spank some of our best shots of the day down the range with it. The D200 is one of those occasions. In truth we didn’t initially love it, but through its very solid across the board performance it won us over. Simon felt the straight edged head, set up and aligned really easily at address which breed confidence. Chris Ryan thought the feel and feedback for a SGI iron was fantastic especially when considering the D200’s are half the cost of some on test.

Bottom line:

If £350 is your absolute budget for a new set of SGI irons in 2016 you’d be foolish to not have a look at the D200’s. Yes it’s a chunky head but we really enjoyed hitting solid shot after solid shot with them. Seriously impressive at this price point.

Feels light, easy to swing, and got on with it very well after I got used to the weight. Distance was ok, it was one of my highest launching and spinning irons on test and you get great feedback on your strikes.

Tended to miss right, not sure why. Love the look and feel of it, the size will boost your confidence, but perhaps the lightweight shaft didn’t work for me. The launch numbers suggest it should have gone further than it did.
