Tech:
Bettinardi’s putters are all CNC milled in the USA so expect the finest craftsmanship around. A flow neck gives a really simple look at address and a specially milled flange back frames the ball perfectly from above. A soft mild carbon steel head delivers top drawer feel and feedback and the Savannah Blue PVD finish inspires confidence and eliminates glare.
Our verdict:
Not huge amounts of people know Bettinardi was the milling genius Scotty Cameron turned to, to produce his putters when he first started out. So there’s absolutely no doubt in our minds the guy knows a thing or two about flatstick design. Each Bettinardi design’s milled from single blocks of carbon steel, which means creating an expensive CAD file for every dimension and curve on the head. And because the putter starts life as a larger block way more material is wasted than casting. Each heads proudly produced in the USA so labour costs are higher too. Which has to go some way to explaining the higher cost. If you’re a fan of precision crafted CNC milled putters with a nod to tradition we reckon you’ll love the #7’s sleek and slender compact head.
Bottom line:
In a world where products regularly fall of the end of a production line by the gazillion Bettinardi’s creations are a real treat. Yes the Queen Bee’s compact head is pretty small, its likely to only inspire real confidence for decent golfers. Bettinardi openly admits the vertical milled honeycomb face doesn’t deliver his softest feel, yet two testers absolutely loved it, offering the Bee an immediate home within their bags.
