What we say...

Evnroll’s ER7 putter made it in to our top 10 mallets of 2018 in our biggest ever equipment test – Top Gear. Find out what our testers made of it below

Evnroll ER7 Putter Review: You Should Know

Evnroll putters have a brand new face milling pattern which Evnroll owner Guerin Rife says gives a progressive energy transfer. To you that means putts hit off centre roll virtually the same distance as on centre hits so you get new levels of accuracy and consistency. The ER7 is milled from a solid block of 303 stainless steel and finished in California.

Evnroll ER7 Putter Review: We Say

Think you’ve seen the ER7’s headshape somewhere before? Well there’s every chance you have. Evnroll was started by the same guy (Guerin Rife) who started Rife putters and the new ER7 is very similar to the Rife putter Justin Rose loved a number of years ago. Some will argue the ER7 is more mallet than MOI putter but we reckon because there’s so much weight removed from inefficient areas it’s a great looking MOI design.

The story behind the Evnroll’s groove pattern is what separates it from most others on the market though. The grooves are wider in the centre and narrower towards the toe and heel which Rife reckons regulates energy transfer so off centre hits travel just as far as on centre impacts. He also reckons just like a wood face that’s not flat, off centre putts are geared back towards to your target too.

Do putter face grooves really make a difference?

Evnroll ER7 Putter Review: Verdict

We can’t say for sure Rife’s variable width and depth grooves gear putts back on line but we will admit to being really impressed with how putts interacted with the face and rolled across the greens surface. All three testers loved the heads simplicity, the putters overall weight (which is heavier than some) and the cracking oversized Winn grip which sits snugly in the hands. If you’re in the market for a new mallet or MOI flatstick in 2017, you’d be well advised to add Evnroll to you short list. They’re quality and genuinely offering something you won’t get from many putter makers.
