What we say...

2011 Review

This split the test team – both Jon and George were impressed with the feel, but the others felt the looks let it down. There’s little doubt the performance is there, but the strange look might well dissuade even the keenest mallet or Ping fans. At £199 this is also one very expensive putter that might just prove too chunky and out there for many. Alex thought it performed well in terms of feel, but said there was simply too much going on with the head to give him a consistent feeling that he was going to hole out.

It may look like something from a science fiction film but the Sydney has been expertly designed to be as forgiving as possible and ultimately help you hole more putts. The head shape is symmetrical and features extreme perimeter weighting for an exceptionally high resistance to twisting during the course of the stroke.

The main frame of the putter is constructed from high-grade lightweight aluminium and three tungsten weights then positions mass exactly where it is needed in the head. The distinctive red alignment bar on the crown stretches from front to back to make it easier to aim. It may be unusual to look at – but do you care if you are picking the ball out the hole more often?
